Oldest Conjoined Twins Make History

Ronnie and Donnie Galyon have reached a milestone that hasn't been broken since 1877. They are now the world's longest-living conjoined twins. INSIDE EDITION has their story.

Ronnie and Donnie Galyon are now officially the world's longest-living conjoined twins! Ronnie and Donnie just turned 63 beating out the previous record holders, conjoined twins born in Italy in 1877 who died at age 63.

Ronnie and Donnie celebrated their milestone birthday with a trip to Disney World and Busch Gardens in Florida.

INSIDE EDITION was there when the world's oldest conjoined twins turned 61. They are living longer than anyone ever expected.

Ronnie and Donnie are joined at the sternum. They agree on everything they do except watching TV, the brothers have separate televisions.

The conjoined twins live in Dayton, Ohio, and support themselves partly from the money they earned by traveling the world.

When INSIDE EDITION was with them two years ago, the twins prepared for a special day of birthday celebrations, first by shaving each other, then, getting dressed and their brother Jim and his wife, Mary, help the brothers put on their matching shirts.

Mary explained how she makes their four legged pants, saying, “I take two pair of pants, then, I take them apart, then I sew a panel in the middle.”

Then, the twins slip into their custom made wheelchair and were off to the Golden Nugget Cafe for a delicious birthday breakfast. After some birthday kisses from the staff, the brothers enjoyed their favorite meal: eggs, biscuits and gravy.

The café owner told INSIDE EDITION, “I love them because they’ve taken something that most of us couldn't deal with and they are like kings and beautiful people.”

After their meal it was time for a shopping spree. They picked lots of Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars and head to the check out. They placed their bags of birthday loot safely on their lap.

Meantime, at their home, preparations for their 61st birthday party were underway. Guests anxiously awaited their arrival. When the brothers arrived, they were welcomed by birthday cheers, and what's a party without more gifts and birthday cake.

Their own doctor attended the landmark event.

Dr. Warren Lungrin told them, “You guys keep breaking new ground. They’ve made it to be the oldest male conjoined twins and they're also the oldest living twins to this date.”

Their brother attributes their longevity to their positive spirit, saying, “Every year for them is a milestone. Frankly, they weren't expected to make it out of the hospital. A lot of it is their fighting spirit.”

Now, Ronnie and Donnie have made history as the world's longest-living conjoined twins. Congratulations, guys.
