A family source has revealed that Bobbi Kristina Brown has undergone a tracheotomy. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.
Bobbi Kristina Brown has reportedly undergone a tracheotomy. The procedure was apparently conducted following complications with her breathing tube.
"She is still critical and we don't know what the outcome will be," a family source told People magazine. "No one is giving up on this kid."
INSIDE EDITION spoke with Dr. Travis Stork of The Doctors. He told INSIDE EDITION, "Doctors are doing their best when someone's in a coma to help prevent infection. A breathing tube through the mouth over time can increase the risk of infection. So, a very common step at this stage."
The 21-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston has been hospitalized since she was found unresponsive in her bathtub nearly three weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Bobbi Kristina's companion, Nick Gordon, is publicly pleading for a chance to visit her in the hospital, where her dad Bobby Brown and grandmother Cissy Houston have been keeping a bedside vigil.
Confirming previous reports of a rift in the family, Gordon's lawyer said in a statement:
"Nick has been trying, privately, to do everything he can to see Bobbi Kristina cooperatively. He has respected the family's wishes and for that reason alone has not returned to the hospital and risked a public confrontation."
