Inside Edition tracked down the disgraced Theranos founder living in a luxury rental building in San Francisco with her partner, Billy Evans, who is heir to a hotel chain. The two are reportedly engaged.
Holmes has traded in her signature black turtlenecks for yoga pants. Inside Edition found her hiding behind a pair of mirrored wire-rim glasses and a ball cap. The disgraced biotech billionaire was prancing around, sporting some bling — perhaps an engagement ring from her new beau.
Theranos, a company once valued at more than $9 billion, was once hailed as innovative for its breakthrough technology that claimed it could perform hundreds of lab tests using only a couple drops of blood.
Holmes fell hard when her company was shuttered last year and federal authorities accused her of "massive fraud." She’s pleaded not guilty and is currently awaiting trial. If convicted, she could be facing up to 20 years in prison.
But you wouldn't know it by how she's living now, spending her days gallivanting around the San Francisco Bay Area with Evans and her husky, Balto, whom Holmes infamously claimed was not a dog but a wolf, according to Vanity Fair.
She didn't answer Inside Edition Chief Investigative Correspondent Lisa Guerrero when she asked her about the recent HBO documentary about her, "The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley."
"Hi Elizabeth. I'm Lisa Guerrero with Inside Edition. We'd like to know if you had an opportunity to watch the documentary about you?" Guerrero asked.
But Holmes just kept walking, enjoying the warm and sunny day at a local park.
So what gave her away? That distinctive deep voice that she's been accused of faking to sound more authoritative.
"I didn't know until she spoke," one woman in the park told Inside Edition. "As soon as she opened her mouth, I was like, 'Bingo, that is her.'"
When it came to Inside Edition's questions, however, Holmes kept mum.
"Do you think you owe your investors an apology, Elizabeth?" Guerrero asked, walking alongside Holmes. "Do you have any comment at all to the investors that say they lost millions of dollars because of you?"
Ironically, the woman with the infamous deep voice had nothing to say.
Holmes reached a settlement with the SEC in March 2018 and agreed to pay a fine of $500,000, among other penalties. Two months later, Holmes was charged with multiple counts of fraud for misleading investors, government officials and consumers about Theranos' technology.
Holmes denies any wrongdoing.
