Brittany Zamora pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a minor, as well as other reduced charges of public indecency and molestation, according to court records.
Brittany Zamora, the Arizona middle school teacher who was arrested for having sex with a child who was in one of her classes, has pleaded guilty to the charges against her, court records show.
Zamora pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a minor, as well as other reduced charges of public indecency and molestation, according to court records, for having an ongoing sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy in her class at Las Brisas Academy.
She was arrested in March 2018 after the victim’s parents contacted police.
The boy’s stepmother told cops she noticed that he was behaving as if he had something to hide and that he wanted to shut his door at night. She said she installed a parental monitoring app on his phone and then began getting alerts about suggestive texts being sent to the boy’s phone.
When she confronted her stepson, he said he had sexual contact with Zamora, then 27, authorities said.
Zamora and the boy sent each other sexual messages, and she sent him naked photos and at least one photo of herself in lingerie, police said.
During one class, Zamora played an educational video while she and the boy fondled each other in the back of the classroom, according to documents obtained by the Arizona Republic.
In another instance, Zamora and the victim had sex while a friend of his was asked to stay in the room and be a lookout, according to reports.
“They were just doing it,” the friend told police. “It was very uncomfortable.”
Zamora was initially charged with two counts of molestation of a child, one count of furnishing harmful material and nine counts of sexual conduct with a minor. She surrendered her state teaching certificate last December.
Under the plea agreement she took, she could spend up to 30 years in prison.
She is scheduled to be sentenced July 12.
