A limited commemorative £5 coin will be available to the public for purchase July 22, when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s oldest child turns 5, the Royal Mint said.

Prince George has received a very special first gift to celebrate his upcoming birthday, as the Royal Mint announced it would issue a coin in the young royal’s honor.

A limited edition, commemorative £5 coin will be available to the public for purchase on July 22, when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s oldest child turns 5 years old, the Royal Mint said.

The coin features an image of St. George, the patron saint of England, and a dragon.

Legend has it that the saint, who was a knight, managed to tame and slay the dragon after the fearsome beast had demanded human sacrifices from the local villagers.

“The story has been linked with royal coins for centuries ... This design, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, is a fitting tribute to the prince," the mint said in a statement on its website.

The coin will also be embossed with the year 2019 and is part of the Royal Mint’s "The Progress of a Prince" set, which commemorates milestones in Prince George’s life. To mark the prince’s second birthday, the Royal Mint also released a coin.

The Mint’s most recent coin marking the Prince’s birthday can be purchased for £82.50, or $107.79. A gold version of the coin is available for £500, or $653.26.
