The baby girl still had her umbilical cord attached.
Jolting video showing an abandoned infant being freed from a plastic bag has been released by Georgia authorities.
The wailing girl is seen inside a beige bag along the side of a road, where Forsyth County sheriff's deputies were called by a neighbor who heard the baby crying.

Deputies can be heard saying "I'm sorry" and "Precious" as they pull apart the bag, revealing a newborn stippled with blood and bearing an umbilical cord. The video was released by the department Tuesday, in the hopes someone with information about the child would come forward.
The baby, temporarily named India, was found early this month and is in good condition, authorities said. She has been placed in foster care as investigators try to determine who, and where, her parents are.
The video shows deputies trying to console the infant as they wrap her in a makeshift blanket. She was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital.
Georgia has safe haven laws that allow a mother to leave a child under the age of 30 days at a hospital, fire station, police precinct or sheriff's office without facing criminal charges.
"We want to understand and find out how this baby was abandoned," said Sheriff Ron Freeman said on June 7. "Thirty-two years, this is the first one I've had of an abandoned child in this manner."
