None of the three children were hurt in the incident.
A man in Philadelphia stole a car with young children inside before being chased down and beaten to death, allegedly by the kids' dad and other bystanders, according to multiple reports.
It all started Thursday around 9 p.m. when a 25-year-old woman parked her car outside a pizza shop, Buzzfeed News reported.
She left the kids, who are between the ages of 7 months and 5 years old, in the car with the engine running while she went into the shop to talk with her boyfriend, who was working in the store and is the father of two of the kids, police said.
That's when a 54-year-old man jumped inside the car and sped off, police said. However, he got stuck in traffic about a block away.
Police said the kids' father chased after the car and pulled the man from the driver's seat, NBC Philadelphia reported. He allegedly beat the man and bystanders joined him.
First responders arrived at the scene and found the man unconscious with severe injuries to his head. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
None of the three children were hurt in the incident.
The kids' mother and her boyfriend were questioned by police and have not been charged.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are reviewing social media video taken during the incident.
