Dramatic footage captured the moment a dad and son pulled a college student from his burning jeep after it crashes with a tractor-trailer.
Dramatic video shows a father and son acting quickly to save a teen from a fiery crash in New Hampshire on Jan. 22.
Sam Lachance, 18, was seriously injured after his Jeep drifted into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer and burst into flames as the two collided. The car behind him, which was being driven by Marc Cramer, captured the ensuing fireball on a dashboard camera.
Cramer told the Ledger-Transcript his car hit Lachance's Jeep, likely saving the teen's life by pushing it out of the worst of the blaze. Cramer and his son, John Cramer, who was in the car as well, then rushed to pull Lachance out of the fiery Jeep.
Lachance of Manchester was driving to school at Keene State College when the accident happened. It's not clear what led his car to drift into the opposite lane.
Lachance suffered severe wounds, including brain bleeds, a fractured foot and a ruptured spleen, as well as burns. He is recovering at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Lachance's mother, Jessica Lachance, praised the father-son duo for their quick action, saying it was "absolutely a miracle" her son survived.
"Everyone was in the right place at the right time,” Jessica told reporters Tuesday, adding that the footage of the crash had left her in "total disbelief."
"I didn’t realize how horrible it actually was," she said. "A mom’s worst nightmare."
