Beth Chapman died Wednesday of cancer.
Duane Chapman, also known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, is heartbroken over the loss of his wife.
Beth Chapman died Wednesday following a battle with stage 2 throat cancer. Duane told local reporters her loss was “unexpected.”
“It’s terrible, the most terrible time in someone’s life,” he told Hawaii News Now. “You kind of try to remember that you’re celebrating life, but right now we’re mourning the death, so it’s not good.”
Duane also shared his wife’s final words while in the hospital.
“When she had an attack, I didn’t know anything to do but to say ‘in Jesus’ name’ and hold her and when I said ‘in Jesus’ name,’ she said, ‘Say it again, say it more,'” Dog told the outlet. “And then she told the girls and everybody, with her mouth — she came out of it a couple times — ‘I love you’ and ‘Are you guys all OK? Don’t worry,’ but she never accepted it.”
He added that she left him notes around his house to find once she had passed.
“Beth was somewhat of a control person — not from the grave but from heaven,” he said. “I’m sure she’s still controlling me and I’ve got notes in my pillowcases, on my sink, in my shaving thing. She’s still telling me what to wear.”
Duane said Beth fought until the very end and she “wanted to live so bad.”
“The cancer gig, of course, we’ve gotta find a cure,” he added, “because all we have now is some get lucky, but most pass away.”
In the days before Beth’s death, Duane had asked his followers to “please say your prayers for Beth right now.” She was put in a medically induced coma at Hawaii’s Queen’s Medical Center on June 22.
Beth and Duane first rose to fame in 2003 through the show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" and later followed it up with another show titled "Dog and Beth: On the Hunt.”
Beth is survived by her husband, their four children and 14 grandchildren.
