Nipsey Hussle was gunned down outside of his Marathon Clothing store in March.
Fans and friends are celebrating Nipsey Hussle’s birthday Thursday. The late rapper would have been 34.
The mother of his son and longtime girlfriend, Lauren London, remembered Nipsey, who was born Ermias Asghedom, on her Instagram with a tribute.
“Today We celebrate You my beloved/ Today we honor you King/ We are to live in our highest vibrations today because that is how Nip lived his life,” London wrote in part. “Ermias wasn’t a sad soul./ He was a powerful strong magical soul."
More celebrities like Ava DuVernay, LeBron James and Memphis Depay also paid tribute to the late rapper on social media.
Huge crowds were expected near Crenshaw Boulevard and West Slauson Avenue, outside of Nipsey’s The Marathon Clothing store, where he was gunned down on March 31, in honor of his birthday.
But earlier this month, an 8-foot fence was put around the parking lot of his store while what is set to be called Nipsey Hussle Tower, is being built, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Police said they don’t have any problems with people gathering to celebrate Nipsey.
“As long as people behave and enjoy themselves, we’re happy,” said Cmdr. Al Labrada with the Los Angeles Police Department.
