The royal family has a tradition of posing on Buckingham Palace's balcony after weddings. Not every member of the royal family has done it, but the most recent was Prince William and wife Kate Middleton following their 2011 nuptials.
Princess Mary
The third child and only daughter of King George V, Princess Mary, married Viscount Lascelles, the elder son of the then Earl of Harewood, and Lady Florence Bridgeman in 1922. After their wedding at Westminster Abby, they traveled back to the palace to pose for commoners.

While there were some royal weddings between 1986 and 2011, no brides or grooms posed on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
In 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton were the first royal couple in more than 20 years to greet well-wishers from the balcony at Buckingham Palace.

Thousands of well-wishers from around the world have also flocked to London to witness the spectacle and pageantry of the royal wedding.
The event even included a fly-over from the Royal Air Force, which Prince William was apart of.
