No one has ever solved the 2014 murders of Russell and Shirley Dermond. He was 88. She was 87. There are other cases of elderly couples whose killings have baffled investigators.

Mr. Dermond was found decapitated in his home in Putnam County, Ga. There was no sign of his wife.
Ten days later, her body was found floating face-down in a nearby lake. Her ankles were tethered to two 30-pound cinder blocks.
