George Clooney first spoke up about the harsh coverage Meghan receives last month, telling reporters that it's comparable to the treatment of Princess Diana decades ago.
George Clooney explained why he spoke out against the "unkind" treatment friend Meghan Markle gets from the press.
The Oscar-winning actor and humanitarian appeared on "Good Morning Britain" Friday and elaborated on the comments he made last month in defense of the duchess of Sussex.
“I’ve seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing,” Clooney said. “It seemed to be a little unjust since she hadn’t done anything except just happen to live her life.”
“She’s a really kind and smart and intelligent young woman, and they’re a really wonderful, loving couple,” he added about Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry. “Most of it you can just shrug off and not pay attention to, but sometimes it’s unkind.”

"She's a woman who is seven months pregnant, and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it's history repeating itself," Clooney said at the time. He added a stark warning: "We've seen how that ends."
Diana, Meghan's late mother-in-law, endured scrutiny from the media around the world before, during and after her marriage to Prince Charles. She died in a car crash in 1997 when her car was "being pursued at high speeds by photographers on motorbikes," the BBC reported.
Clooney and his wife, attorney and humanitarian Amal Clooney, live in England with their two children. The couple attended Meghan and Harry's wedding in 2018, and Amal helped celebrate their future child at Meghan's baby shower last month.
