Grandmother Prays for Money, Wins $1 Million Lottery

After more than nine decades, one can say 94-year-old Air Force veteran William Bowker has seen it all.   His keen eye caught the detail that won him millions from the lottery—but the ticket nearly got tossed in the trash. Bowker's granddaughter checked the lotto ticket for him and mistook the Oregon Megabucks ticket for a Mega Millions ticket. Bowker saved the day by following his gut instinct. "She got done, and later, I thought I should double-check it before throwing it away," Bowker said, according

The odds of Wendy Johnson winning were literally one in a million.

Hallelujah!

A grandmother in North Carolina prayed for lottery winnings, and her calls were answered to the tune of $1 million.

Wendy Johnson was shopping for flowers when she got the call she’d won a second chance drawing. Her entry was chosen from 983,012 others in the $300,000,000 Supreme Riches drawing, according to the North Carolina Educational Lottery.

“I never thought I’d win, but I was praying,” Johnson told lotto officials. “When I got the phone call, I actually thought I’d won one of the smaller drawings. It never occurred to me that I’d actually win the $1 million.”

Johnson says she’ll use the windfall to buy a new house and take care of her children and grandchildren.
