Surveillance footage showed him pulling the woman into a hotel locker room, according to police.
A new husband has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting his wife's own bridesmaid two days before the wedding.
The wedding party was at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Pennsylvania on Aug. 30. The 29-year-old woman told police that after a day of drinking and playing on the river with the group, she returned to the inn. She told officers that she remembered being intoxicated and waking up in the hotel locker room shower with the groom, 28-year-old Daniel Carney, on top of her. Her bathing suit bottoms were pulled off, she said.
The bride-to-be found Carney on top of her and began yelling at her fiance, she said.
Carney allegedly texted the bridesmaid on the day of the wedding and asked her to take emergency contraception and to be "as happy as possible" for his soon-to-be wife, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post. The wedding apparently went on that day as planned.
The bridesmaid went to a hospital the day after the wedding to report she had been sexually assaulted, according to the Post.
Surveillance video showed Carney pulling the woman into the locker room, according to police. When interviewed by officials, Carney allegedly said he did lead her into the room, according to the Post. Carney also allegedly told investigators he was highly intoxicated on the night of the alleged assault, according to a police affidavit.
Carney has been charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an unconscious person, simple assault and indecent assault. He has been released on $100,000 bail and has not yet entered a plea.
