Cameron Hill rescued Melissa Dohme after she was stabbed 32 times. Now, Hill is making a surprise proposal while she throws the first pitch.
Melissa Dohme was getting ready to throw out the first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game.
It’s the thrill of a lifetime but she has no idea that her hero firefighter boyfriend has planned a surprise marriage proposal.
He's writing "Will You Marry Me?" on a baseball.
It's happy moment that may have never come for her. Back in 2011, she was a straight A high school student in Clearwater, Florida. After she told her then boyfriend, Robert Burton, she was leaving him to attend college he pulled out a knife and savagely stabbed her.
A terrified witness called 911: “This man just stabbed a woman to death in the street. Oh, my God! Oh, my God!”

The 21-year-old stared down her ex-boyfriend in court as she recounted how she begged and screamed for her life.
She emotionally told INSIDE EDITION, “I began to scream as loud as I could.”
Firefighter/EMT Cameron Hill was one of the first responders.
“Nobody lives that gets stabbed that many times,” he said.
Melissa lost almost all of her blood and flat-lined four times, but miraculously, she pulled through.
She said, “I never thought I would date anyone again.”
Cupid had another plan.
INSIDE EDITION’s Megan Alexander said to her, “There’s a happy ending. You actually fell in love with Cameron, one of your first responders.”

They have been going strong for two-and-a-half years and in his heart, Cameron felt now was the time to pop the big question.
He went out shopping and picked out a sparkling diamond engagement ring.
Melissa thinks she was chosen to throw out the first pitch because of her inspirational story.
That brings us back to the Tampa Bay Rays Tropicana Field where she was still clueless.
She said to INSIDE EDITION, “I cannot believe I was asked. I’m a huge Ray fan. Number one fan!”
She walked out to the pitcher's mound and she thinks Cameron is in the stands, but he's really waiting to spring his big surprise.
Then, he came jogging out to her for the big moment.
He gave her the baseball and asked “Melissa, will you marry me?”
A very surprised Melissa said, “Oh my God yes! Yes!”
Melissa's mom, JoAnn, wasn't in on the surprise and ran onto the field.
The fans in the stands cheered her on and wedding bell music began to play.
Melissa threw the first pitch and Cameron made the catch and presented his fiancée with a bouquet of flowers!
“This is surreal,” she said.
A brave young woman who fought for her life has now found love with the man who came to her rescue.
