INSIDE EDITION talks to the woman who made up an elaborate lie of her own daughter's death and even delivered a eulogy at the funeral.
On heartbreaking home video a grieving mother speaks at the funeral for her 15 year-old daughter.
On the video, the mother says, "I'm not gonna be able to see her face again. She was a beautiful, charismatic little girl whose laugh was so contagious."
Devastated friends and family in Richmond, Indiana, believed the teenager had been murdered. Many of the mourners who gathered hadn't seen the murdered teenager in quite some time. She'd been living nearly 500 miles away with her father. At the funeral, the girl's cremated remains sat in an urn nearby.
But just seconds after mom, Angela Boyd, finished her eulogy, her brother stood up and revealed the shocking truth, saying, "There's no easy way to put this. She's not dead. I talked to her grandma Sunday."
That's right. It was all a lie. The 38-year-old mom now admits her daughter is alive and well, and that the entire funeral was a scam.
INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent asked Boyd, "Did it ever occur to you the pain that you were putting all of these people through?"
"At the time, no," said Boyd.
And get this...she'd even set up a collection box so mourners could make donations in her daughter's memory.
At the service, her brother said to mourners, "This is all a ploy, and I'm sorry you all had to go through this and for my sister to get money from you guys."
"It wasn't about money," said Boyd.
Trent asked, "What was it about?"
"It was about attention," replied Boyd.
Her brother, Brian LeMaster, says his sister is a drug addict who lies constantly. When he discovered she was even lying about her daughter's murder, he finally had enough.
LeMaster said, "She needed to be confronted in front of the very people she was decieving. It was a tough thing to do."
"It was a pretty cruel thing to do to people you love," said Trent.
"I agree," said Boyd.
Trent asked, "What do you say to them?"
Boyd responded, "I'm sorry. If I could take it back, I would."
