Little Edith Fuller didn't make it to the final round despite spelling all her words correctly.
An Oklahoma 6-year-old, the youngest person to ever compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, was sent home in tears after failing to qualify for the final round — despite spelling all of her words correctly.

Edith Fuller, who hails from Tulsa, aced words like “nyctinasty" and "tapas" during an event in National Harbor, Md., recently.
However, she will not compete in the finals after being disqualified from the national challenge.
The kindergartener did not get a high enough score on the required written exam, which has now forced her out of the competition.
Upon receiving the news, she cried in her shocked father’s arms.
Earlier in the year, she won the regional competition, which brought her to the national stage at just 5 years old.
Inside Edition caught up with Edith at her home where she spelled a few easy words for us like “refrigerator” and “escalator.” The bright young lady also read out of the fairy tale book she is writing.

She may be out of this year’s competition, but she is still keeping her spirits high.
“I had fun,” she exclaimed.
Her proud mother added: "She impresses us every day."
