The teen was convicted of involuntary manslaughter on Friday in court.
The mother of the 18-year-old teen who killed himself after his former girlfriend, Michelle Carter, urged him to, spoke out Friday about the conviction.
Carter, 20, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter on Friday in a Massachusetts court.
“I think she needs to be held responsible for her actions ’cause she knew exactly what she was doing,” Lynn Roy said during Friday’s episode of 48 Hours “She knew exactly what she was doing and what she said.”

The mother also said in the interview that she didn’t believe Carter had a conscience or a moral compass because of the role she played in Conrad Roy Jr.’s suicide.
"The fact that she would say to him, ‘Your family will get over you.’ How is that even — I will never get over him,'" Lynn Roy said.
After Carter’s conviction, Roy’s father, Conrad Roy, made a brief statement in court in regards to Carter’s conviction.
“This has been a very tough time for our family and we’d like to process this verdict that we’re happy with,” he said, according to the New York Times.
Roy died from carbon monoxide poisoning in July 2014 after locking himself in his truck in a parking lot of a Massachusetts' Kmart.
After his death, it emerged that Carter, then 17, had texted Roy on several occasions asking him when he was going to take his life, prosecutors said in court.
The night of his death, Carter encouraged him to get back inside the truck after he revealed he was scared and had gotten out.
“You're ready and prepared. All you have to do is turn the generator on and you will be free and happy,” she texted him. “No more pushing it off. No more waiting.”
She later admitted in messages to other friends that she took no action, despite knowing where the truck was.
“She did nothing. She did not call the police or Mr. Roy’s family,” the judge said of Carter during the hearing. “Finally, she did not issue a simple additional instruction [to Roy]: ‘Get out of the truck.'”
Cater was charged as a youthful offender, which means that although she was a minor at the time of the incident, she was charged as an adult.
Carter’s sentencing is set for Aug. 3.
