The bodies of Liberty German and Abigail Williams were found on Valentine's Day. No arrests have been made.
Family and friends of two teenage girls found dead on an Indiana hiking trail in February have come together to speak about their beloved daughters and plead for help in bringing their killer to justice.
Abigail “Abby” Williams, 13, and Liberty “Libby” German, 14, were found dead off a rural hiking trail near Delphi, their hometown, on February 14.
The gruesome discovery devastated their families, who told Inside Edition in an exclusive interview that they never expected such a nightmare outcome when the girls failed to return home the day before.
“It’s like I had open-heart surgery, but they never used any anesthetic and they say, 'I’m sorry, you're just gonna have to live this way, with part of your heart missing the rest of your life,'" Diane Erskin, Abigail’s grandmother, told Inside Edition.
Libby’s grandmother, Becky Patty, agreed, saying that when asked what she misses about her granddaughter, she wants to reply: “An easier question would be what don't you miss? That's easy: Nothing.”

It’s been difficult to carry on, especially in light of the milestones their daughters have missed, including a recent school dance, the families said.
“Part of me wanted to go to the school and see the girls in pretty dresses and give them all hugs, but I knew how hard it was gonna be to not have our babies there,” Anna Williams, Abby's mother, said while fighting back tears.
What helps the families continue is the faith that the man responsible for Abby and Libby’s deaths will be caught and brought to justice, they said.
“We’re gonna get him,” one relative said. “We’re willing to wait... We’re willing to wait as long as it takes.”
On Monday, investigators released a new composite sketch of the man suspected in the killings. Another clue is an audio recording of what is believed to be the voice of the girls' killer.
"Down the hill," the man can be heard saying.

The recording, which was obtained from Libby’s phone, led police to hail the quick-thinking teen for recording potentially crucial evidence in such a frightful scenario.
The suspect is described as a white male with reddish-brown hair, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10, and weighing between 180 and 220 pounds.

A reward of more than $230,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible.
