XXXTentacion's girlfriend gave birth to the late rapper's son on Saturday evening.
XXXTentacion's girlfriend welcomed a baby boy over the weekend, seven months after the rapper was shot and killed in Florida.
Cleopatra Bernard, the rapper's mother, posted about the child's birth on her Instagram Story Saturday evening, writing, "Yume has officially arrived."
Yume is short for Gekyume, a name chosen by the rapper for the child, his family said in a statement to Complex.
"Gekyume’s name is derived from a word X created prior to his passing, which means 'a different state' or 'next' universe of thought," they said. "XXXTentacion specifically chose this name for his first-born son; his family is honored to fulfill his wish and shower baby Gekyume with love."
XXXTentacion, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, was fatally shot last June in what authorities have called an attempted robbery. Four people have been arrested in connection with the shooting and all have pleaded not guilty.
Bernard announced that her son was expecting a baby of his own shortly after his death, writing on Instagram, "He left us a final gift."
