It's the newest trend on social media.
Taking a college dorm room from bleak to chic is the newest trend on social media.
With the hashtag #transformurdorm, college kids across the United States are posting their impressive makeover skills.
Inside Edition met UCLA freshmen who showed how they turned a disaster of a room into an uplifting, stylish living space.
“We are here all of the time, we wanted it to feel homey,” Lauren Shaw told Inside Edition.
Her roommate Leah Roga says they brainstormed by looking online and at social media.
‘You can find so much inspiration all over social media,” she said.
First, the roommates picked a color scheme.
“I feel like the white and grey color scheme is very popular right now because it is very simple very clean, but it is also chic and elegant,” Shaw said.
They then bought fun throw pillows to brighten up the space and added LED lights to create mood lighting in the space. They also added plants to give a splash of color and bring nature into the room.
Their biggest task was hanging brick wallpaper, which took five hours to put up.
“Putting on the wallpaper was definitely the longest part, but it's stick-on wallpaper and it looks amazing,” Shaw said.
Roommate Hannah Walsh threw in a decorative rug to tie the room together because it “makes it feel more like home.”
