Olivia Jade Giannulli, the daughter of Lori Loughlin, has long been popular on YouTube, where she has nearly 2 million subscribers.
The 19-year-old often posts videos from her dorm room at the University of Southern California, speaking about everything from fitness to her life at college.
Her parents have both been charged in connection with a college admissions scam involving dozens of others. Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly paid $500,000 to have their daughters labeled as recruits for the USC crew team, according to authorities. Neither of the girls are rowers, prosecutors say.
Olivia Jade was enjoying her spring break on a yacht owned by Rick Caruso, a chair on the USC Board of Trustees, when news of the scandal broke and they had to turn around, according to TMZ.
"My daughter and a group of students left for spring break prior to the government's announcement yesterday," Caruso told TMZ. "Once we became aware of the investigation, the young woman decided it would be in her best interests to return home."
In one of her YouTube videos, Olivia Jade said, “… I do want the experience of like, game days, partying — I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know.”
It is not clear if Loughlin’s daughters were aware of what their parents had allegedly done, but the teen did admit in a YouTube video on the “The Zach Sang Show” that it wasn’t really her idea to go to college.
"Mostly, my parents really wanted me to go because both of them didn't go to college," she said.
According to court documents, the family submitted photos of the girls on rowing machines along with their applications.
Olivia Jade has turned off the comments on her YouTube videos as well as her Instagram account in the wake of the scandal.
Some people on social media came to the college student’s defense.
“It says in the article most kids were not aware that their admission was contingent on bribes. Y’all don’t know if she was aware of this! Cut her some slack,” one Instagram user wrote.
