2 Firefighters Die While Battling Blaze on Cargo Ship in New Jersey

The City of Newark, New Jersey, is in mourning after two firefighters died while fighting a fire on a cargo ship. The fire chief of Newark says the blaze broke out on the top floors of a ship in the Port of Newark that was carrying about 5,000 cars. He says two mayday calls were made, but responding firefighters weren’t able to get to firefighters Augustus Acabou, 45, and Wayne Brooks, Jr., 49, in time, and they could not be saved.
