Ex-Basketball Player Shot Dead After Slashing Cop

A former women's basketball player was shot dead after slashing a Virginia cop. The incident started when an officer was doing a welfare check on Sydney Wilson. After slamming the door on the police officer, the former player flung it open and slashed the officer in the face with a butcher knife. Officer Peter Liu repeatedly told her to back up as she charged forward. When she appeared to lunge at him, he fired his gun. At a press conference, the police chief says the officer tried everything to diffuse the situation.
