Can Concrete Bollards Prevent Tragedies at Gas Stations?
Experts say there’s a simple solution that can help prevent accidents at gas stations caused by drivers smashing into gas pumps, igniting fires. A mother was filling up her car with gas when a driver backed into the pump and started a blaze that tragically killed her. Her son and daughter escaped the inferno and say the tragedy could have been prevented. They suggest placing bollards on all sides of a gas pump. There are no federal rules requiring bollards at gas stations. Circle K, which reached a settlement with the family, says it’s heartbroken about the accident and the safety of their customers is of utmost importance.
