Wrongfully Convicted Man Talks His Long Walk to Freedom

January 11, 2025

Jon-Adrian "JJ" Velazquez spent 25 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit. In 1998, JJ was wrongfully convicted of the murder of a former NYPD officer and spent more than half his life behind bars at various New York State Correctional Facilities until he got to Sing Sing prison where he was for a majority of his time. After years of fighting from the inside, he was granted clemency then finally given his freedom. Now, in his return to Sing Sing since becoming a free man, JJ Velazquez brought Inside Edition Digital along to hear his story as he rebuilds the life that was taken from him.
