How Kitty Genovese’s 1964 Murder Helped Create 911

In March 1964, 28-year-old Kitty Genovese was raped and murdered in her Queens, New York, neighborhood by Winston Moseley. Genovese was repeatedly stabbed on a street while neighbors largely ignored her cries for help. Her death eventually led to the inspiration for the creation of 911 operating system. In 2016, Moseley, a psychopathic serial killer and necrophiliac, died at the age of 81 while behind bars after serving almost 52 years.
