Kenneth Smith Is First Inmate Executed by Nitrogen Hypoxia

Some of the last words of a condemned man were read out loud after his passing. The state of Alabama executed Kenneth Smith for the 1988 murder of a pastor’s wife. It was the first time nitrogen hypoxia was used as a method of execution.
