Medal of Honor Hero to POWs Father Emil Kapaun Laid to Rest in Kansas
September 30, 2021
An army chaplain who died during the Korean War has finally come home. The remains of Father Emil Kapaun were laid to rest this week in his hometown of Wichita, Kansas. Father Kapaun helped his fellow internees survive in a prison camp, though he himself died before seeing freedom. His remains were identified and retrieved only recently. Father Kapaun was a Medal of Honor recipient, and one day he may be canonized by the Catholic Church.
