Moderna Says Its New COVID-19 Vaccine Is 95% Effective

Moderna’s experimental COVID-19 vaccine is nearly 95% effective, the company announced Monday, citing preliminary results of its ongoing study, which showed that of 95 participants who contracted COVID-19, only 5 had received the vaccine. At least 45 states are reporting an uptick in cases and a week after competitor Pfizer announced its own experimental vaccine is 90% effective. Unlike Pfizer’s vaccine, Moderna’s does not have to be stored at ultra-low temperatures using special equipment.
