    Oil Blobs Wash Onto California Beaches

    An oil sheen off the coast of a southern California beach may have resulted in blobs of tar on the sand. The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating what it calls “an unknown substance in the water 1.5 miles off the coast of Huntington Beach.” All potential spill sources are being contacted, but so far, no one has accepted responsibility. Officials say there have been no reports of oiled animals or affected wildlife at this time.
