Trial Begins for Woman Accused of Killing Cop Boyfriend

The murder trial of college professor Karen Read got underway to a chorus of supporters calling for her acquittal. The prosecution alleges she intentionally rammed into her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, following a night of bar-hopping. Surveillance video shows the couple at a bar embracing that night in January 2022. Prosecutors allege when she left, Read intentionally mowed him down in a jealous rage over another woman. Read has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
