December 18, 2018
Penny Marshall, the Bronx-born producer, director and actor, has died. She was 75. Her publicist confirmed she died Monday at her Hollywood Hills home from diabetes-related complications. Marshall was a born performer, beginning to take tap dance lessons from her mother at age 3. She went on to star on “Laverne & Shirley,” being cast by her brother, Garry. She broke ground when she became the first female director to gross $100 million with “Big” in 1988.
