The Duchess of Sussex opted for black nail polish, making a bold statement.
Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards on Monday.
Donning a chic one-shoulder Givenchy dress, the Duchess of Sussex cradled her baby bump as she took the stage. In a bold move, she sported black nail polish, a break with royal protocol, which typically favors more neutral shades.
Queen Elizabeth II reportedly does not approve of colorful nail polish, believing it is “vulgar.”
The crowd at the awards show, which included Uma Thurman, Penelope Cruz and Cindy Crawford, roared as actress Rosamund Pike introduced Meghan.
The duchess was on hand to present Clare Waight Keller, her wedding dress designer and Givenchy’s artistic director, with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award.
