The first lady's press secretary is blasting the "Vanity Fair" Story as riddled with unnamed sources and false assertions.
Melania Trump is hitting back at a Vanity Fair article that claims "come hell or high water," she did not wish to be first lady.
The magazine cited a longtime friend of the Trumps, who said that the distinction of first lady "isn't something she wanted and it isn't something [Donald Trump] ever thought he'd win,” and added, “I don't think she thought it was going to happen."
Now, the first lady's press secretary is slamming the magazine.
"Once again part of the liberal media, this time Vanity Fair, has written a story riddled with unnamed sources and false assertions," her office said in a statement. "As a magazine tailored to women, it is shameful that they continue to write salacious and false stories meant to demean Mrs. Trump.”
Stephanie A. Grisham, the communications director for Mrs. Trump, added that the first lady "is honored by her role."
The response came on the same day that she unveiled the White House Christmas decorations.
The first lady, dressed in all white, was greeted by ballet dancers.
She also took time to meet children who all seemed enamored by her. They embraced her and she then sat down to make Christmas decorations with them.
