The first lady landed in Ghana Tuesday.
With a wave and a smile, First Lady Melania Trump arrived in Ghana Tuesday.
Her $2,000 striped dress by Celine fluttered in the wind as she descended the steps of her aircraft. On the tarmac, she was welcomed with a bouquet of flowers from an 8-year-old girl.
She was warmly greeted by the first lady of Ghana, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
Dancers performed in the capital city of Accra for the first lady and she seemed to enjoy the moment, clapping to show her appreciation.
Mrs. Trump also appeared delighted to see school kids waving Ghanaian and American flags.
Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Mrs. Trump then headed to Accra's Ridge Hospital, where they met with children.
Some think her mission is designed to soften relations with the continent after President Trump reportedly referred to several African nations as "s***hole countries" 10 months ago.
Mrs. Trump began her five-day, four-nation African tour which will also include stops in Malawi, Kenya and Egypt. The excursion is her first solo international trip as first lady.
