Just minutes after being married in an intimate ceremony, two childhood sweethearts were reportedly killed in a car crash while leaving their wedding.
Harley Morgan,19, and Rhiannon Boudreaux, 20, were pronounced husband and wife by a justice of the peace in Orange County, Texas, Friday afternoon. That same justice of the peace would be the one to pronounce the couple dead outside his building.
Morgan and Boudreaux, described by police as "childhood sweethearts," were pulling out of the building's driveway and onto a five-lane highway when a large truck hauling a trailer slammed into the couple's car. Witnesses reportedly said the couple's vehicle flipped multiple times before stopping in a ditch.
Morgan was still wearing his suit and Boudreaux was still in her white dress.
"My worst nightmare happened in front of my eyes," the groom's mother, LaShawna Morgan, told KBMT-TV. "I watched my baby die. I'm still wearing my son's blood because I tried to rip him and her out of the car. If you have kids, go home and hug them because I don't have my kid. I don't have the one thing in my life that made me happy."
Boudreaux was described by her aunt as "a beautiful, strong, independent young woman that was full of life," the "Today" show reported. Cassie Boudreaux Watson said her niece was "loving and kind" and "always smiling."
The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash and was cooperating with the investigation. Police said there was no sign of wrongdoing.
