The user said they took four 10 mg pills, when Ambien prescribing information recommends a daily dose to not exceed 10 mg.
A Reddit user blamed Ambien for his impromptu proposal to his girlfriend.
In a post on the platform, the anonymous individual documented a bizarre experience they claimed they had after taking four 10 mg pills when they couldn't sleep in the middle of the night. A daily dose of Ambien must not exceed 10 mg, according to prescribing information.
The user wrote they had an engagement ring in their drawer because they buy and sell stuff on Craigslist. And when they woke up, they said, they noticed their girlfriend wearing the ring.
When they asked where she got it, she explained what had happened, the user said.
"I go on my facebook and apparently my ambien drugged brain changed my relationship status to engaged and it got 150+likes before i f***in saw it," the user wrote.
The user added: "I had not planned on being engaged with my girlfriend for another year and a half and probably wouldve gotten her a better ring but ambien sped up the process ten folds.
"Warning: if its 3am, and you can't sleep ,DO NOT TAKE AMBIEN."
The Reddit poster isn't alone. Other users of Ambien have documented strange side effects from the drug, including cooking whole meals without any memory of doing so or even having sex, according to the American Addiction Centers.
