The actor has been open about his struggles with addiction and his path to sobriety.
Rob Lowe is celebrated nearly three decades of sobriety in a moving Instagram post.
On Friday, the actor shared an old headshot. He captioned the photo, "Today I celebrate 29 years of sobriety. Thank you to all those who have inspired me on this wonderful, challenging and life-changing journey. If you, or someone you know, are struggling with alcohol or addiction, there CAN be a future of hope, health and happiness . And it comes one day at a time."
Lowe has been open about his struggles with addiction and his path to sobriety. He has often posted on social media in early May to mark his anniversary.
And in 2014, he spoke to Oprah Winfrey about going to rehab.
"I didn't love the fact that I had to go and it was unbelievably painful but I like the science. I couldn't have gotten sober without rehab because ... I needed to do the work. It was like going to law school," Lowe said.
He even offers words of encouragement to others going through similar situations. When Demi Lovato was hospitalized last year after a drug overdose, Lowe showed support for her on Twitter.
"I don’t know you, @ddlovato but I am thinking of you. Hoping you come back to us!" he wrote.
