Kelsey Berreth, 29, was last seen at a Safeway supermarket on Nov. 22 near her home in Woodland Park, police said.
The search is on for a young Colorado mother who vanished after going food shopping on Thanksgiving Day, officials said.
Kelsey Berreth, 29, was last seen at a Safeway supermarket on Nov. 22 near her home in Woodland Park, police said. She was supposed to go home, but Barreth, who has a 1-year-old daughter, never returned.
After she disappeared, Berreth’s cellphone pinged in Gooding, Idaho, more than 700 miles from where she had last been seen, authorities said.
“It makes us wonder what she’s doing up there, or what the phone is, potentially, because she may not be there,” Woodland Park Police Cmdr. Chris Adams told “Good Morning America.”
Loved ones described Berreth, who works as a pilot and aviation instructor, as responsible and a doting mother. They noted she wouldn’t leave her child without some sort of explanation.
“Although it would be out of character for her to not contact anyone before making a cross-country trip we can't exclude the possibility,” said a moderator on the “Missing Mother – Kelsey Berreth” Facebook page, which was created to spread the word about Berreth’s disappearance. “Kelsey has ties to the Pacific Northwest as well as Kansas. She does not own a plane nor do we know of any local friends that she would borrow one from.
“I don't believe she has ever made a flight without filing a flight plan,” they continued. “We do realize that it is possible to rent a plane, but I believe someone would be missing it by now. [Nonetheless] we have to consider every possibility.”
Police searched Berreth’s home and found her suitcases, makeup and vehicles all untouched.
“After arriving at Kelsey’s house … and combing through things, we know 1 thing (is) certain, Kelsey did not pack to go anywhere,” her brother, Clint Berreth, wrote on Facebook.
Law enforcement in the areas where Berreth has connections, as well as near where her cellphone pinged, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are aiding in the investigation.
Berreth is 5-foot-3, weighs 110 pounds, and has green eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, gray sweater, blue jeans and white shoes. She was carrying a brown purse.
Anyone with information about Berreth’s whereabouts is asked to call Woodland Park Police at 719-687-9262 or the CBI at 719-647-5999.
