She was hospitalized twice beforehand due to a low white blood cell count, according to reports.
Selena Gomez is reportedly seeking treatment after having an emotional breakdown this week.
The 26-year-old singer “voluntarily” entered treatment after suffering some sort of mental health crisis while hospitalized for a low white blood cell count.
Gomez underwent a kidney transplant last year. She was initially checked into the hospital last week but had to be readmitted just days later because of the health issue, which sparked a panic attack, People reported.
“She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues,” an unidentified source told the magazine. “She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She’s doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast.”
The breakdown came just weeks after Gomez announced she’d be taking a break from social media to “live [her] life in the present moment." It also follows the recent news of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber's engagement to model Hailey Baldwin.
The singer and actress is currently undergoing dialectical behavior therapy, which helps conditions such as depression and PTSD, among others, TMZ reported.
