Rescue workers recovered the body of 2-year-old Julen Rosello Saturday.
A family is heartbroken after a toddler who fell down a well in Spain was found dead.
Rescue workers recovered the body of 2-year-old Julen Rosello Saturday, 13 days after wandering away from his family during a picnic and plunging down a 360-foot well in the town of Totalan.
Officials in the area say Rosello was found at 1:25 a.m. Saturday.
Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez tweeted in part, “All of Spain feels the infinite sadness of Julen’s family.”
DNA hair samples had officially confirmed Rosello had fallen down the water hole, but witnesses and workers say they hadn’t heard screams from him after he initially slipped.
Since then, more than 100 rescue workers had been working around the clock to free the toddler, using cameras and boring machines. The narrow hole was only 10 inches wide, making it nearly impossible for any adult to go down.
In 2017, the family lost another son, Oliver, after he reportedly had a heart attack on the beach.
