What initially seemed like a robbery turned out to be much more.
Who killed a young naval officer with a bright future ahead of him?
Cory Allen Voss was shot and killed while withdrawing lunch money for his children from an ATM in Newport News, Virginia, in April 2007. What initially seemed like a robbery turned out to be much more.
The murder is featured on the true crime series "NCIS: The Cases They Can't Forget." Hosted by Rocky Carroll, the show is a spinoff of the fictional drama "NCIS" and takes a look at real-life cases handled by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
"What you learn by watching this show is just how deeply affected, how personally involved the agents are, and how important and how dedicated they are," Carroll told Inside Edition.
In the case of Voss, his wife, Catherina Rose Voss, had conspired to hire a hitman to kill him and make the murder look like a robbery. It took months of investigating before arrests were made in the case. Now, she's serving life in prison.
The third season of "NCIS: The Cases They Can't Forget" premieres Wednesday night at 9 pm. ET on CBS.
