Belgian brewers paraded a barrel of ale down the streets of Brussels for the annual blessing of the beer on Friday.
The procession culminated in a special Mass in the Saints Michael and Gudula Cathedral, where a priest said a blessing over the barrel as part of a tradition that dates back to the 11th century.
The service supposedly guarantees good beer for the year ahead.
Beer and religion have a long history in Belgium, where monks have been brewing beer for over 1,000 years.
