Jolene Walderf’s body laid at the bus stop for nearly 20 minutes before a good Samaritan called 911.
The body of a Wisconsin woman who froze to death at a bus stop laid in a snowbank and multiple people allegedly stepped over her remains without stopping to help. After nearly 20 minutes, a good Samaritan called 911.
Jolene Walderf was walking to a bus stop when she slipped and hit her face on a fence, knocking her unconscious, authorities say.
The temperature was two degrees below zero, with a windchill of -20.
As the 49-year-old lay on the ground, a pedestrian allegedly walked over her and kept going and cars drove by without anyone stopping to see if she was okay.
“They didn’t see her as a human being, they didn’t see her as a person, as if she was a piece of trash on the road,” Walderf’s heartbroken daughter, Kevina, tells Inside Edition.
Kevina says her mother was taking the bus because her car broke down.
“Apparently she tried to call 911 but the call was dropped,” Kevina says.
Walderf’s family is planning her funeral and has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the cost. As of Thursday, the GoFundMe campaign, which was created to also help support Walderf's daughters, had raised $20,355. "These kids have had to grow up much too fast. Let's help make this transition a little less stressful for them," the page reads.
