Woman Accused of Shooting Boyfriend in Face Allegedly Told Cellmate She Gave Him 'Nose Job' He Wanted

An Ohio woman charged with killing her boyfriend was accused during her trial of joking that she had given him “the nose job he always wanted” by shooting him in the face.

Shayna Hubers, 27, was charged with the murder of her boyfriend Ryan Poston after calling 911 to say she shot him in self-defense at his Highland Heights, Kentucky, home on Oct. 12, 2012. 

The night he died, Poston had planned to meet Miss Ohio 2012 Audrey Bolte. 

Hubers claimed she feared for her life when she shot Poston six times, but three felons testified Tuesday that she killed him because he was leaving her, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. 

Cecily Miller, Holly Nivens and Donna Dooley, all Hubers' former cellmates, said that she had said she killed Poston because they were breaking up.

"She would get on the phone and cry and sing to her mom and say, 'There’s worse crimes than murder,'” Dooley said.

Miller also said Hubers never expressed remorse for the 29-year-old lawyer’s death.

“And then she said, 'I gave him the nose job he always wanted,'” Miller said. 

Nivens reportedly testified that Hubers said during a phone call with her mother that Poston’s family was rich enough to buy another son.

A forensics expert testified Poston had been shot first in the forehead while he was seated, twice in the back while still in his seat and three more times after he fell to the floor. 

Hubers and Poston dated off and on for a year and a half after meeting on Facebook. 

They had a contentious relationship, according to Highland Heights Police Chief Bill Birkenhauer, who reportedly testified that she was known to log into his Facebook to block other women.

Birkenhauer also claimed Hubers sent Poston hundreds of text messages during one of their break-ups. 

Hubers was convicted of Poston’s murder in 2015, but the ruling was overturned when the case was ruled a mistrial.
