On Nov. 13, Almarosa Tenorio, 52, of Spanish Fort, Alabama, fell 16 stories aboard the Royal Princess ship.
The children of a woman who plunged to her death on a Princess Cruises ship are speaking out, saying their mother seemed nervous to embark on the trip.
On Nov. 13, Almarosa Tenorio, 52, of Spanish Fort, Alabama, fell 16 stories aboard the Royal Princess ship, which was sailing between the islands of Curacao and Aruba at the time of the incident. Witnesses reportedly saw her struggling with an unidentified man who was seen choking her before she plunged from the upper deck.
Speaking to "Good Morning America," Tenorio's children said she "did not want to go" on the trip. "She knew something was going to happen," said daughter Andrea Smith.
Son Timothy Tenorio said his mother hugged him extra tight before leaving. "I was kind of curious about why it was so long," he said.
Almarosa went on the trip with husband Leo Tenorio, who was questioned as a witness, but is not considered a suspect, according to local authorities.
For his part, Leo has said his wife's death was not a murder, telling Fox10 News he's frustrated with reports suggesting his wife was killed. He told "GMA" he wants her memory treated with "respect," adding, "Her death will haunt me forever."
The children suggested Leo and Almarosa went on the trip for some quality bonding time.
"He [Leo] specifically said they were going on this cruise because they wanted one week in order to work on their relationship, just like them two alone," Timothy said.
Timothy also described Leo as someone who "always wanted the best for his mother," according to "GMA," and said he was a "supportive husband."
Both children added they just want to know what happened to their mother. The FBI is investigating.
In a statement, Princess Cruises said: "The incident was reported to the FBI and local authorities and the local authorities met and boarded the ship upon arrival in Aruba. We are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities, including the FBI. An official cause of death has not been announced."
A GoFundMe page has been established for the family. The ship returned to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, on Saturday.
