A North Carolina woman is $1 million richer, thanks to dear old mom.
Lourell Leak says her mom was asleep during the family’s weekly card game, so she went to buy a $20 100X The Cash ticket, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Leak says she thought she’d won only $20 or $30.
"I took the ticket home and woke my mom up to show her,” Leak told lottery officials. “I’m so glad she was sleeping. If she wasn’t, I never would have won the prize.”
Officials say Leak plans to help her daughter and her granddaughter, and she’ll celebrate with her co-workers.
