Christie and Mark Evans were preparing to move in with their young son when the house was leveled by the inferno.
New homeowners Christie and Mark Evans are surveying the damage to their dream home, which was leveled by the wildfires in Southern California, just days after they closed on the property.
Tuesday night was supposed to be the first night in the home for Christie, who's eight months pregnant, her husband, and their 17-month-old son.
“It is a bit surreal,” Mark Evans said as he viewed what was left of the house.
The couple also has a 17-month-old son who was filmed playing inside the home after it was purchased. They also took celebratory photos as the happy family was getting ready to settle into a fresh start into their new home.
As Mark surveyed the area with Inside Edition, a column fell down during the interview, showcasing that what remains of the house is still crumbling.
Now, most of their belongings have been destroyed, including everything that had purchased for their new addition.
“We lost everything because we moved everything for the new baby over,” Christie Evans said.
The couple has set up a Go Fund Me account to help pay for expenses. For more information, click here.
